Open-Source Input Device with Customizable Endstops and LCD Display
Summary of my bookmarked Github repositories from Sep 11th, 2023
SmartKnob is an open-source input device that offers software-configurable endstops and virtual detents. It features a brushless gimbal motor paired with a magnetic encoder for closed-loop torque feedback control, allowing dynamic customization of detents and endstops. The SmartKnob View variant boasts a 240x240 round LCD protected by watch glass, powered by an ESP32-PICO-V3-02 module. It includes 8 side-firing RGB LEDs, a USB-C connector, and an ambient light sensor. While not recommended for general use due to complexity, it's a fascinating project for advanced electronics hobbyists. More documentation is expected, and it may require advanced soldering skills to build.
